Mr. Samiran Lahiri takes over as President: Financial Products Distribution of The Peerless General Finance & Investment Company Ltd. with effect from October 16, 2009. This move of the company is in continuation of its efforts to grow and develop internal leadership talent. Financial Products Distribution (FPD) is the new business arm of the 77 year old Peerless Company which now distributes Life Insurance, General Insurance, Health insurance and Mutual Fund products of various principals.
Mr. Lahiri will spearhead the FPD business carried out through 147 offices spread all over India by an army of about 1500 employees and many thousands of financial advisors known as Smart Guides in Peerless. He will be reporting to Mr Jayanta Roy, Director: FPD.
A proud recipient of the prestigious Bhagwandas Peraj Memorial Award for standing first in the country with Marine Insurance Specialization, Mr. Lahiri has had a successful stint as President & CE (Retail Distribution Solution) at Peerless.
Prior to joining Peerless in 2007, Mr. Lahiri was the Chief Operations Officer of Rainbow Insurance Company Ltd, a Composite Insurance Company in Mauritius for 7 years where he was involved in policy formulation, risk management, customer relationship and business development. He had also worked for Oriental Insurance Company in India and under the Foreign Service cadre in Nepal.
He brings with him an in depth knowledge of insurance culled from 23 years of experience in the Insurance sector, covering underwriting, techno-marketing, settlement of claims, initiating loss control measures, acceptance of inward re-insurance and tea crop insurance as some of the major focus areas.
Mr Samiran Lahiri has helped in the successful development, branding and launching of some of the most significant insurance products in Nepal and Mauritius.
