‘Tweet with Rajiv Bajaj’ @Forbes_India’

Forbes India, India’s most influential business magazine, enlists social media in its effort to find innovative ways to reach out to its audience. It will be using Twitter, the micro-blogging interface, for interviews — or ‘Twinterviews,’ if you will — with business personalities featured in its fortnightly issues.

The Forbes India Twinterview series kicks off with a session with Rajiv Bajaj, MD, Bajaj Auto, who features on the cover of the current issue of the magazine. The magazine story is an in-depth analysis of the iconic Bajaj brand, from its leading position in the two-wheeler market (in a country where that form of transport accounts for 80 percent of all vehicles), to its steady decline, to its current resurrection and resurgence.

Rajiv Bajaj’s soul-searching, his efforts to re-focus business practices, and sharpen positioning have borne fruit, and he is credited with the success of the turnaround, the transformation of the brand from stodgy scooter-manufacturer to tech-savvy motorcycle-maker.

In an informal but public experiment, Mr Bajaj will chat with Forbes India’s editorial team via the very popular Twitter interface. Bajaj Auto already has a presence on Twitter (@bajajauto), but Mr Bajaj will chat via his own newly-created Twitter handle, @motorcycleyogi, and Forbes India will speak through @forbes_india.

The topic: Yoga, Motorcycles and the Business of Brands. The chat will be live, and open to all, on 11th Dec ’09, 1:30 pm to 2.00 pm (IST). (For those who are not Twitter users, the chat can be followed at http://business.in.com/conversation/twinterview/rajivbajaj)
Like Forbes India, Mr Bajaj believes that it is important to reach out to consumers using the methods they’re already comfortable with.

So, he will answer questions from readers (moderated by @forbes_india) as well. Questions can be sent via:
